| Happy New Year from my Basset Hound, Norbert! |
First the tools. The most important thing I knew I needed was a microphone of good quality. I went and talked with the recording engineer at my local music store, Hix Bros., and he helped to lead me in the right direction. I ended up purchasing the CAD GXL2200SP Recoding Bundle. I have been doing some test recordings today, and I am very happy with my purchase. Other tools I have just picked up are a boom stand, many different cables, and newly affixed sound panels in our office. We have actually completely overhauled our office, and I will dedicate a post to that at a later date. The last tool I will be using is the iPad and iRig I already owned.
Now, on to the
recording process I am looking to use. All of the computers my husband
and I own are PC's. I have played around
with Audacity, but I much prefer and am more proficient with Garage
Band. My hope is that 2012 will
bring me either an iMac or Macbook Pro so I can utilize its full
features, but for now I am going to master the iPad version. All my
inputs will go first through the mixer and are then sent out to my iPad
through the iRig. I am soaking up a lot of new recording knowledge daily, and I hope to keep getting better.
I have
almost completed the first song I am going to share with you. Look for
it to be posted this Tuesday as a part of the on going series, New Tune Tuesday.
